I JUST RECIEVED FRIDAY 02JULY 2010 AN ALERT COMMENT FROM AN ARTIST, ABDOUT THIS INVITATION I POSTED ON MY BLOG SOMETIME AGO, ------I AM shocked by what she writes ---
THEY HAVE STOLEN THE WORK OF ALMOST 6 ARTISTS
I was delighted to have received a invite for an exhibition in Dakar Senegal. There were offers, which were very lucrative. In front of the city is a island, which goes after european style and many artists live there. Flight as well as hotel Accomodation was to be reduced for me.. I agreed to this and with this, two paintings were asked for the show. Should an artwork be sold, the finances would of gone to the reconstruction and positive development of the country. I liked that, since I was willing to spend for such cause. Several days later the needed papers were sent to me as well as the insurance papers for the paintings. Everything sounded and looked trustworthy. I took the paintings from the frames, because shipping would of cost almost 1000 USD via Fed Ex. It was painful to roll and send it off, but it was cheaper this way. The paintings have not arrived in Dakar , when suddenly I received information that someone is interested in purchasing both works. And that they wanted to send me the money via Western Union directly. But in order to receive the ID, the money for the transfer and potential buyers Information, I was supposed to pay 675 USD to Senegal first, and was supposed to go to the bank immedialetly. No one spoke anymore about the amount of money being used for a good cause for the country, which was the most importance to me and which I also informed via e-mail. Stating that they should keep the requested commision. I think, the organization was not prepared for my reaction. They wanted to pay me the full amount of the two paintings, for an Artist it sounds very tempting in the beginning because 50 % in my case would be subtracted yet in this case one would receive almost the total amount and only pay the amount of 675 dollars. With this so called check I became suspicious, I suddenly saw that this paper was used by someone previously. Another person was supposed to exhibit there as well, I contacted that person. you and your friends alert/warn the Senegal Fair is a false They are cheater!!!!! I was shocked.. Should All this been a fake? I wrote to my Embassy in Dakar Senegal, and they confirmed this as well, everything was a lie. I am showing the so called papers on purpose, so that this won't happen to other artists and with this won't be involved with the so called Nigerian connection- From the Information I received, there is in fact a Festival of arts in Dakar. In my case the people were wrong as well as the timing. Dakar, what I found out is in fact the centre of arts in Africa. now I put the effort into having my paintings returned, who were luckily in the hands of FedEx. On march 8th I ordered them back, on the 29th of march they arrived again.. Thank you for the exhibition that never nor exists..
